RECALL ALERT: Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula Dog Food

Blue Buffalo Company is voluntarily recalling some Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula Fish and Sweet Potato Recipe dry dog food because of high moisture levels and the potential for mold, PetSmart announced May 27.

According to Dog Food Advisor, only one batch, which was manufactured within a two-hour period, is being recalled.

The following Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula Fish and Sweet Potato Recipe dog food products are included in this recall:

  • Size: 30-lb. bags
  • UPC: 8596100032
  • Best By Date: APR 11 17
  • Lot Code: AH 2A followed by a number ranging from 1208 to 1400

The lot code is located on the lower right of the back of the bag.

Blue Buffalo Company, based in Wilton, Conn., has not reported any dogs becoming ill after eating the food.

If you purchased the recalled product, do not feed it to your pet. Return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

RECALL ALERT: Nutro Chewy Treats with Real Apples

Mars Petcare is voluntarily recalling some Nutro Chewy Treats with Real Apples because they may contain mold.

According to the PetSmart website, the following products are included in this recall:

Nutro Chewy Treats with Real Apples

  • Size: 4 oz. bags
  • PetSmart SKU: 5229600
  • Product SKU: 7910511344
  • Lot codes: Codes beginning with 4 50, 5 02, 5 03 or 5 05 (regardless of Best By date)

The lot code is located on the bottom of the bag, under the Best By date.

If you purchased the recalled product, do not feed it to your pet. Bring the bag and any remaining treats to your nearest PetSmart store for a full refund.

RECALL ALERT: Simply Nourish Biscotti Treats Sold at PetSmart

Some Simply Nourish Biscotti with Beef & Sweet Potatoes dog treats are being voluntarily recalled from PetSmart stores because they may be contaminated with mold.

According to a letter to PetSmart customers, the treat’s manufacturer, Loving Pets Corp., based in Cranbury, N.J., is recalling the following items:

UPC: 73725747061
Expiration Date: EXP 02.16

If you purchased one of the recalled products, stop feeding it to your dog and return it with the receipt or a copy of the letter to PetSmart for a full refund.

If your dog appears to be ill after eating one of the recalled products, take him to a veterinarian or animal emergency hospital as soon as possible.
